Hey Steve:

See Ya!

Now having unsuccesfully attempted to begin two law school insurrections, first at Detroit Mercy and then AMSoL, I have to wonder how the job market is going to treat him. Despite his ample list of admirers and friends, any law school administrator is going to have to think long and hard about hiring the man. Sure, he says all the right things at first, such as when he's trying to coax a billionaire into funding a new school, hire him, and grant him tenure without an actual tenure process. But how long will it be before he's protesting and biting the hand that feeds him? Any potential employer is going to have to wonder. After all, it can't be written off as a one time thing anymore. Now it's a track record.

Wow, the worst part about being in his skin has got to be that he was so quickly abandoned by the folks he brought to the dance... They have now said that, with him gone, they will dedicate themselves to: (1) 'renew the Law School's commitment to ABA Standards and, more importantly, to the teachings of the Catholic Church as envisioned in Ex Corde Ecclesiae,' and, (2) 'return the Law School to the pursuit of its Mission'. In other words, they plan on letting the legitimate temporal authority run the school, and handle the big decisions, while they return to teach a little law. If they do that, I'm sure everyone, especially students and alumni, would appreciate it.

That sounds great. Unfortunately, I think some of the signatories might interpret their commitment a bit differently than you did. Luckily, the Dean's not a one-trick pony. He's got plenty more whoop-ass at his disposal.

Yea, really, ya think so? Shucks. Well you do have to admit, on the scale of; 'Don't worry, I got your back' that was a pretty lame effort by the remnant-three-amigos. So much for hanging together so we don't hang separately. Somewhat unrelated question: How long do you think it will be before Kevin moves on to Buies Creek 'for the good of his family' and stops trashing Our Lady's School (never a good idea for your family or otherwise)? Talk about an ingrate.

Luckily, I'm not privvy to all those system-wide emails from Prof. Lee so I remain blissfully ignorant. As a result, I can somewhat charitably wish him prompt and safe passage to that ginormous state-run law school that will be his new employer. Undoubtedly, it will be much more empathetic to the Catholic legal tradition, and far more responsive to the individual student (and teacher) than that evil "sole-proprietor" shop from which he came.
