Green states
Forget red states and blue states, let's get fired up about green states! No, I don't mean green energy (although that would be good for my current job), but rather the color coding on Gallup's latest poll results showing conservatives outnumbering liberals in ALL 50 states. Not a hint of white anywhere to be found!

All in all, outstanding news.
Bad-but-not-surprising: NV, FL, CO and VA have slipped away from being reliably conservative states.
Surprisingly good news: MN and IL are "somewhat conservative"?
Shocking: DE is "more conservative"? Too bad no EVs.
Jaw dropping: CA, NY, NJ, VT, and MA are slightly more conservative than liberal? Really?
And this is where it gets interesting. According to the article: In fact, while all 50 states are, to some degree, more conservative than liberal (with the conservative advantage ranging from 1 to 34 points), Gallup's 2009 party ID results indicate that Democrats have significant party ID advantages in 30 states and Republicans in only 4.
So for some reason people like to affiliate themselves with the Democratic party (maybe it makes them "feel good"?), but they can actually have conservative tendencies deep down.
I think the best example of this is what's happening to Obama now. You had a lot of independents who bought into his claims and wanted to vote for him to "do the right thing," but now that they see his actual policies their support for him is dropping precipitously. They tend to be much more fiscally and socially conservative than Obama.
