As far as restraining ourselves from crushing our enemies into a fine powder, I say [B.S.]! The whole point is to kill enough of your enemy to make them stop doing what made you want to kill them in the first place.

It's hard to disagree with the wisdom of the Powell Doctrine: once force is justified, use overwhelming, disproportionate levels to quickly crush the enemy; make sure you have an exit strategy; and after victory, the military should leave the field and not be used as peacekeepers.
