Sanford was having an affair--resigns as chair of the RGA
The end of a potentially great national political career.
Obviously, when he was "hiking the Appalachian trail," that was one thing. But when it turned out he was Buenos Aires, you kind of knew there was another shoe to drop.
Well, it's dropped. What a shame. First and foremost, for his wife and boys. Then, for the state of SC and the nation.

I guess "hiking the Appalachian trail" has a different meaning these days. What will the kids think of next?
Let's add the Republican party to your list of "what a shame." With all the affairs Republicans have admitted to recently, it really weakens the party's image as the moral leader. One almost forgets Clinton at this point.
And Spitzer.
True, although I've forgotten about Spitzer for another reason - thinking about him hurts my brain. That guy oozed d-baggery.
We also forgot John Edwards.
