Now reading...
The Hunger Games trilogy. I'm in the middle of the second book.
As you suggested, Beasty, the series is great. Fast reads. Extremely interesting premise. Sure, not the newest thing under the sun, but the execution is great. I never tire of the genre.
While I'm on the topic of sci-fi/fantasy, has anyone read the Ender's Game series of books? Any comments on whether they're worth reading would be appreciated.

I have not read Ender's Game but have heard nothing but great things about it.
As I warned the Beast, be prepared for the Hunger Games series to get darker and darker as it progresses. Which is saying a lot considering the initial premise revolves around teenagers slaughtering each other for the amusement of a viewing audience...
I have no idea how they will adapt these movies remotely faithfully without making them R rated.
Enjoy the books--it's always fun to have someone else to discuss them with.
I think my favorite part of book 1 was Cato's appearance at the lake where he just runs right between Kat and Peeta because of what's chasing him. The eyes were a brilliant touch.
The part of book 1 that the reader doesn't get to see, that I would love to have known how it went down: the fight between Cato and Thresh.
Yeah--I figured that would have been an epic clash and was disappointed that Thresh was just written out like that.
It couldn't have been too prolonged though because Cato didn't come out of it with any injuries. I was expecting that Katniss and Peeta would be able to get the drop on Cato because he'd come out of the Thresh fight all effed up. Guess not...
Tough to tell whether he was injured or not. He was in full adrenaline mode by the time Kat and Peeta saw him, and probably would've been at a dead run on two broken ankles. Still, they probably would've seen any major flesh wounds.
BTW, based on D.C.'s suggestions, I've removed the casting call until I can finish the series.
So hurry up and finish the damn series, already!
Geez Louise, I'm two books down in 4 days. Doing my best, buddy...
