Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize
1. This is a great accomplishment for any person, but more so for an American President
2. This gives our government some extra chips for diplomatic engagements
I will pass on the discussion of whether this is deserved--it is important either way. In my subjective judgment, the positives globally outweigh the negatives in domestic politics.
That said, it will be painful to watch how much fawning and adoration will go along with this.

I would say I was more succinct than fawning. Bulletpoints usually help with that.
I won't comment on whether or not he deserves it, I'll just post this link.
I'll also post this partial list of other winners: Al Gore, Mohamed ElBaradei, Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan, Yasser Arafat. Nuff said.
Exactly. This dog-and-pony show is put on by a bunch on condescending liberals, who to paraphrase Joe Klein, are happy that we kicked out Bush and are longer bringing guns to the dinner table (too paraphrase his piece in Time).
I don't think it really means anything except to give Obama leverage enough to say to foreign leaders, Ima impose sanctions / blockade / rocket launches on ya now and Ima certified man of peace, so you're the problem. If he'll use the chip in our best interest or allow the international intelligentsia to cajole him into abandoning Afghanistan remains to be seen...
