Schumer is a Tool
As if you didn't already know that. If you happened to catch him on the verge of tears when describing Sotomayor as a role model, your knowledge of his tooldom would be confirmed. Here's a quote from Newsday:
"Now in 2009, there are many more role models," he said, including Sotomayor. Schumer seemed to choke up as he made the remark, and television cameras caught several spectators wiping their eyes."

"Schumer is a Tool"
Haha, not exactly breaking news as you mentioned! I saw him on Meet the Press Sunday, exhibiting even more tool-ishness. There's something off about him - he rarely looks the person or camera straight in the eye when answering, he's always darting his eyes around. Almost as if he doesn't quite believe what he's saying...
Schumer is dangerous. As far as I'm concerned, he's basically the brains behind the Dem's operation in the Senate. The book he put out, Positively American, laid out his vision for a Democratic Party that was committed to recapturing the middle class in the 21st century. His focus, and several of his priority items, are now core components of the Dem message. He was personally responsible for overseeing the DSCC and recruiting candidates in red and swing states that communicate his middle class message, and not get lumped in with liberal lefties from the coasts. Current Senators such as Jon Tester, Claire McCaskill, Amy Klobuchar, Sheldon Brown, Bob Casey Jr were all surprise (or at least even money candidates) who all won election for the first time in '06, at least in part due to Schumer's fund raising and messaging acumen.
This guy is a megalomaniac, a solid tactician, an ideologue to the extreme*, very driven, and with no chance of being defeated by anyone in the State of New York. He basically has a lifetime appointment. He's a dangerous man with decades of damage to do still in front of him.
*Ideologue? Check out these quotes from the W years:
Schumer, who is on the Senate Judiciary Committee, is already preparing for a war against anyone that President Bush appoints regardless of their qualifications. Publicly, Schumer claims that he and his Democrat colleagues want a fair confirmation process. But, his real agenda was revealed recently when he was overheard talking with someone on his cell phone. Schumer said, "We are contemplating how we are going to go to war over this."
Schumer revealed that no matter how qualified and experienced a Bush nominee may be, they will be ruthlessly and relentlessly attacked because, as Schumer said, "It's not about an individual judge…It's about how it affects the overall makeup of the court."
So much for a fair confirmation hearing process.
