Fundraising
Looks like Obama basically tied Hillary's early fundraising efforts, bringing in $25 M. This should set up a nice amount of vicious in-fighting among Dems during their primary. Throw in Gore and it will get even uglier. Gotta love it!

I'll re-post a comment I put on Race42008:
"A long drawn out primary is, IMHO, beneficial. Sure it costs money. But it provides a campaign with benefits that money can’t buy: sharpening the message, motivating the staff, increasing the free media coverage, and creating a “winner” aura around the candidate who ultimately emerges. Plus, the drawn out primary leads to more attacks and negative campagining: I’d rather find out who such attacks will stick to, and who has teflon, in the primary than in the general."
Net result: I think it will ultimately benefit the Dems to have a fiercely contested primary, as it will benefit the GOP.
