True or False?
If McCain had picked Mitt to be his VP, he'd be running stronger now.
I think true. I think McCain definitely would have gotten less initial pop from a Mitt selection than Palin, but I think over the longer run Mitt would have proven the better choice.
Alternatively, if McCain campaign had just given the media free and frequent access to Palin, rather than doling out infrequent interviews, perhaps the media would have glossed over her gaffes like they do with Biden. On second thought, that's my bad, I was imagining impartial journalists for a second there.

I'm going to go with unsure on this one. How's that for taking a decisive stand?
On the one hand, I, personally, would've loved to see Mitt on the trail articulating a pro-growth message in opposition to Barack's socialism.
Yet, there's a reason why Mitt didn't win the GOP primary, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Obama would've loved to pair up richie rich Mitt with 7-houses-McCain. "Of course the multi-multi-millionaire wants a tax cut for the rich, but haven't we had enough of these failed policies?"
I don't think the veep call would've mattered much at the end of the day, unless the Palin pick really struck heartland voters in swing states as crass political opportunism. If the message the voters got at the end of the day was, "McCain's career first, Country Second", as liberal critics contend, then it was a catastrophe. But I won't believe that until I see exit polls from real voters in states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
