Will it matter?

Well, the first big 'scandal' to affect Sarah Palin has broken. Her 17-year-old daughter is ~5 months pregnant, and she will keep the baby and marry the father. I wonder how this might swing things. To his credit, Obama's immediate and unambiguous response was that as far as he is concerned families and especially children are off limits in this campaign, and it should make no difference that she's pregnant. I can't help but wonder if this will hurt support from the base.

Well, the hard left will spin this as a "Sarah failed her daughter because she believes in abstinence" argument.

It certainly takes a little sheen off the perfection of the family story, but at the end of the day, it's not the candidate's failure, it's her daughter's.

It's also funny that the left thought Bubba's foibles were off-limits, but the hit pieces on "Palin hyprocrisy" are already off and running.

Well, the early comments from some leaders of the base are in and they are showing full support for Palin. This is key: any perceived fractures in support from the base will be fatal this election.

Of course, if Obama's supporters decide that Palin's daughter's pregnancy is fair game, then it stands to reason that Obama's use of coke should be back in play.
