Iraq
This is a great piece by Krauthammer, pointing out that it is Iraqis and others in the region responsible for the chaos they are now in. To blame the US is absurd - we gave them the opportunity of freedom, and so far they have chosen to squander it away by sinking into a civil war. That is their choice and their actions, certainly nothing the US wants or established.

We have made a lot of mistakes in Iraq. But when Arabs kill Arabs and Shiites kill Shiites and Sunnis kill all in a spasm of violence that is blind and furious and has roots in hatreds born long before America was even a republic, to place the blame on the one player, the one country, the one military that has done more than any other to try to separate the combatants and bring conciliation is simply perverse.
It infantilizes Arabs. It demonizes Americans. It willfully overlooks the plainest of facts: Iraq is their country. We midwifed their freedom. They chose civil war.
So true. This Krauthammer guy might want to think of a career in journalism.
But, in fairness, the fact that the Iraqis are to blame for the violence misses the key point made by (reasonable) critics of the war: that the sectarian violence was predictable, and we had no strategy to prevent it.
