Welcome, SingleWing

I hope everyone can take a little time out of their busy schedules to wish a warm welcome to our newest contributor, SingleWing (golf clap).

By way of introduction, he's long been an associate of SHK in the general New England vicinity. Shockingly, he's also an upstanding citizen. I, for one, can personally vouch for the fact that SW is a fan of aged spirits. I can circumstantially vouch for his allegiance to cured meats and Notre Dame football ;)

BTW, SingleWing, is your handle a reference to the B2 or the offensive set? Just wondering...

Thanks for the intro, Fredo. Let me clarify some of your points so as not to confuse anyone. I cheer for the football team that has more wins and a higher winning percentage than ND. I do enjoy scotch, although having grown up in the Midwest, I'm more of a bourbon and beer type of guy. I have been known to run with the SHK in the Boston area, and I am still trying to convince him that life in the Midwest is quite a step up from Boston/NYC. He doesn't believe me.

I live by several rules in life, but I think two stand out. First rule: look with suspicion upon people that are either 1) Vegetarian or 2) Abstain from alcohol (obviously recovering alcoholics are the exception). You will find very few people that are on the up and up and fall into category 1 or 2 - at the very least, you wouldn't want to get into a foxhole with one of them.

Second rule: Don't live west of where you work.

To answer your question about my name: I had the joy of running the SingleWing offensive formation for several years; in many ways, the modern spread offense has roots in this classic offensive formation that relies upon a combination of brute strength and a lot of misdirection. So although the SingleWing is viewed as conservative, boring, and non-progressive; in actuality, it is the foundations of this formation that will always survive the test of time. Sound familiar?

It's funny, here on the East Coast, everyone always told me the SingleWing was all about repression and coat hangers.

Guess I'll have to look into it more closely.

Oh, and of course SHK doesn't bite on the midwest. If there aren't three fru fru martini bars per street it's way off his radar screen. Thank goodness the Scottish saved that man from a life of this.
