Unfortunately it's not McCain who's going to be wearing the pearl necklace, it's the American public. More specifically, any American who is hard-working, enjoys our freedom and security, and/or adheres to a different moral code than that of CA and MA.

The only possible upside is that with absolutely no checks in place on Obama + Dem congress, they may enact such poor policies (e.g., the debacle that was Jimmy Carter) that it will enable another 8-12 year Republican run starting in 2012.

It's already starting and uglier than I thought. Read this piece in today's WSJ.

The hypocrisy of the Dems is unbelievable, especially since this article emphasizes a point I had made earlier, that Pelosi and others have no leg to stand on here since they were briefed about these tactics (specifically waterboarding) and APPROVED them in '02.

And again, are the Dems really going to pursue Bush on waterboarding, when it has only been used THREE times since 9/11, and ZERO times in the last 5 years? In all cases it was also only used after other techniques failed, and when it was believed that danger was imminent. Anyone who objectively looks at the facts as presented must acknowledge that it is apparent that great restraint and control and protocol were followed in all cases. It couldn't be further from the undisciplined, out-of-control picture the moveon.orgs would like to paint.
