Meanwhile, back at the ranch

Obama is also getting close on his V.P. pick. Drudge offers this headline:

Edwards, Nunn on Obama's VP List...

Followed by this headline:

NATIONAL ENQUIRER CORNERS JOHN EDWARDS AT BEVERLY HILTON...

Click on the link, if you dare, and you'll see photos like this one:

With headlines like:

SEN. JOHN EDWARDS CAUGHT WITH MISTRESS AND LOVE CHILD!

So--Obama/Nunn, then. Dang. That's a good pick for the Baummer.

There's only one "Baumer".

Yessss!!!!!

I've been looking for that picture for-ever!!!!

I actually wanted to get the poster they show in the movie, with the headband, sunglasses, and beard, and then photoshop Obama's face on it.

FAIL

FWIW, Rasmussen says that Mitt is not only the expected choice, but he is the preferred VP choice by Repubs.

I actually think Mitt is the best veep candidate to help McCain elected. He's articulate, ready to step into the Oval Office if something were to happen, and he's also a good attack dog.

My only reservation is that it sets up Mitt as the presumptive nominee in '12 should Mac lose, and I'm not convinced he makes a great candidate. I am convinced he'd be an excellent administrator, but as a political visionary/consensus builder, I'm not sold.

Then again, I'm not sure I see anyone out there who meets the threshold of the "new conservative visionary," and will be President-ready in 4 years.

Having caught Pawlenty in several Sunday morning talk shows, I favor Ridge or Rudy over T-Paw for the veep slot, even though I agree more Pawlenty's ideology. He's just so milquetoast, there's no zing there. He's not going to be able to go after the Baumer effectively.

And please Mac don't pick Jindal! Give him 4 years to show what he can do. The veep nomination will smother his chances, not help them.

Pawlenty would be the worst possible pick for the reason you mention Fredo: he'd be greeted by a giant yawn from the media and base. I also agree on Jindal. While I think he might be the best person waiting in the wings for this party, bringing him on as VP this year would be a negative for his future chances, not positive. I look forward to running him as the nominee for prez in 2012 or '16.
