McCain is now winning

Who knows whether it will stick, but today, a Reuters/Zogby poll shows McCain with a 5 point lead nationally, and for the first time, the RCP polling average of state-by-state polls shows McCain with the Electoral Vote lead. And the EV is really all that matters. If the election were held today, and the polls are accurate, McCain would win, 274-264.

Could the timing be any better? One week before the Dem Convention, and the pro-Hillary forces have more reason to say "I told you so" to the Obama folks. How ugly could it get?

It will be enormously ugly, since Obama's lead is unraveling the more people get to know him, just as the Billary team predicted. Remember, their #1 point was that Hillary has already been fully vetted by media and Republicans: there is no more dirt to dig up on her. Obama, on the other hand, is unbelievably fertile ground, and not battle tested.

So, will his hand be forced to pick her as running mate? If he does, this all goes away and you're looking at the next Prez and VP.

Unquestionably, a Hillary pick cements it for Obama.

And yet I still don't believe it will happen.

Why?

Two words: Vince Foster.

Hillary Clinton as Veep is like a buzzard circling overhead.
