And at least 1/2 of the Veepstakes Crown

goes to Dark Commenteer, who had Palin #2 on his list.

No one else had her on there at all.

As for the second 1/2 of the crown, we'll wait and see once all of the shortlist is revealed. It might take a while for all the inner workings to come out, but I'm preliminarily guessing it looks something like:

Pawlenty
Romney
Lieberman
Ridge
Giuliani
Cantor (Field: not on original list)
Palin

If this list turned out to be right, I think D.C. would win the whole crown outright, but I only gave a quick scan. Developing...

You KNOW the dems are running scared of McCain's VP pick. All the commentary is using inappropriate language, calling McCain "insane" or "out of his mind", calling her a "lightweight" or way too inexperienced.

Sorry, but you can't say she's any less experienced than Obama, and you've put him up for the TOP position.

The type of response from the dems is indicative that they know McCain made perhaps the most damaging choice for them, and they're not happy.

The Palin pick has definitely put the Dems in a corner, it's probably the worst choice for them. You can see this in that Obama's first ad in response doesn't even mention her - it focuses exclusively on McCain.

The problem for the Dems is that they don't want to be seen as insensitively attacking a woman (and risking alienating Hillary voters), and you know attack dog Biden won't know how to tone it down. Her only glaring weakness is complete lack of experience (certainly a problem that troubles me, she wouldn't have been my choice ahead of Mitt), but again I think Dems are not going to want to draw attention to that because it will just come back to Obama's inexperience.

She was probably strategically the best choice, most devastating to Dems.
