Going Out on a Limb
I'm going to go way out on a thin limb. Lieberman will be McCain's VP. Here's how it helps -
1. Explicit proof of working across the aisle
2. Further distance from Bush
3. Big help with independents and anti-Obama or pro-Hillary Dems
4. Lots and lots of press
5. Backs-up the maverick claim
Ok. Now you can all go ahead and tear this up. But remember I said it if it happens.

Not that thin a limb. Most speculation has him in the final 3 at this point, along with Pawlenty and Ridge.
McCain is not idelogically oriented, so it wouldn't suprise me at all.
It would aggravate the heck out of me, but not surprise me.
Case in point: this story could be viewed as a sign that a Ridge or Lieberman pick is gaining in likelihood.
It is possible that McCain will pick Lieberman, if only because he values loyalty above all else and Lieberman is the guy he has the longest-standing ties to.
That said, it would be a disastrous pick, IMO. Just when the base is starting to get excited (not for McCain, but anti-Obama), this would quench that enthusiasm.
I hear you SHK, but McCain may be banking on the fact that he'll get most of the Republican vote by default and the Lieberman pick will give him a leg up on the independents and dems.
I'll pass on the discussion of whether the pick has merit--it might--but it would make me so sick to my stomach I'd rather not run the numbers.
