Time for a Break from Elections
There's no better distraction to me than the folks at PETA and I'd like to share their latest blunder. I appreciate their presence because we need people like PETA for the rest of us to feel superior. You are what you eat and they are just nuts.
Who else could look at cannibalism and see opportunity for publicity? Read the article yourself. The letter PETA wrote to the local sheriff who is detaining the alleged cannibal is here.
But this comes with a warning. This is funny. Murder should not be. You will be faced with a moral dilemma at having found humor in the demise of others.

I'm not sure I follow the dilemma. Are you implying that all these images, words, bits and bytes actually serve a purpose other than making a few synapses fire in my brain to help kill time more enjoyably? Is there actually a "world" with "people" out there?
OK, enough with the Cartesian ethics.
I actually read the letter this morning.
In the words of the Guiness guys:
"Brilliant!"
It's tough to argue with logic like that.
Premise: Getting murdered hurts
Argument 1: One guy in your jail made someone hurt
Argument 2: Animals get hurt all the time
Argument 3: Tofu is better for you than burgers.
Therefore: An organic vegetable commune must replace your Aramark food contract, pronto.
Thank you for considering my proposal.
OK, I wanted to be done with this, but upon one last reading of this letter, I propose a challenge to all of you OccObs readers. Check out this paragraph:
As you know, McCuin [the prisoner in your jail] allegedly killed his girlfriend, cut up and boiled parts of her
body, and may have consumed parts of her corpse. Tragically, every day in homes and
restaurants across the U.S., humans cut up, cook, and devour the corpses of chickens,
pigs, fish, and cows. Only in a culture where people routinely kill and eat living, feeling
beings would anyone even think to kill and eat a human loved one.
The challenge is this:
determine whether the paragraph above, or the iron-clad logic in my previous comment, is the actual PETA letter, and which is the joke.
PETA obviously wants equal rights for all creatures.
And it seems they've gotten their wish--animals may not be allowed to vote yet but they managed to get a cow to run for the
Democrats...
